Privacy policy

Updated: October 18, 2026

Spido is a web app for the Tesla browser and your phone. This page explains in plain words what data we process, why, and who we share it with. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

1. What we collect

  • Email. For your account and to send your sign-in code.
  • Name and phone. When you sign up, so we can call you to confirm your beta place and contact you about Premium.
  • Car connection. The paired car’s name, when it was paired and when it was last online. We have no access to your Tesla account, VIN or the car’s systems.
  • Saved places. Home, work and favourites you save yourself.
  • Messages between phone and car. Addresses you send, music controls and the app’s technical state (version, settings), so your phone can show the car’s status.
  • Voice search. When you use the microphone, the recording is sent to be turned into text. We do not keep the audio.
  • Waitlist. If the beta is full and you join the waitlist, your email and language.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting keeps standard request data: IP address, browser and time.

The car’s location is used by the browser for the map and navigation. We do not store a location history on our servers.

2. How we use it

Only to make Spido work and to improve it:

  • signing in and keeping your account safe;
  • connecting your phone and car and passing addresses between them;
  • routes, search, speed cameras, chargers and weather;
  • contacting you about the beta and Premium;
  • finding bugs and improving voice search.

We show no ads. We use no tracking scripts, analytics or pixels.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell data. Spido runs on a few services, and each one receives only what a specific request needs:

  • Supabase: database and sign-in.
  • Vercel: website hosting and server functions.
  • Google (Gmail): sending the sign-in code email.
  • Microsoft Azure: speech recognition and spoken navigation prompts.
  • OpenStreetMap services (OpenFreeMap, Photon, Nominatim, OSRM, Overpass): map, address search, routes, speed cameras and chargers. They receive the search text and the coordinates needed.
  • Open-Meteo: weather and air quality, by coordinates.
  • SoundCloud: the music player, only if you use it.
  • Google Fonts: the website’s fonts.

We share data with anyone else only where the law requires it, at the request of an authorised body.

4. How long we keep it

  • Account, car connection and saved places: for as long as you have an account. Deleting the account deletes all of it.
  • Messages between phone and car: up to 30 days.
  • Voice search: audio is not stored. The recognised text appears briefly in server logs and is deleted automatically.
  • Waitlist email: until we offer you a place or you ask us to remove it.

5. Your rights

At any time you can ask for:

  • a copy of the data we hold about you;
  • incorrect data to be corrected;
  • your account and all its data to be deleted.

Email us and we will reply within 30 days. You can also unpair your car from the phone app. If you think we handle your data incorrectly, you can contact the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia.

6. Cookies and browser storage

We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser’s storage keeps your sign-in session and your settings, such as theme, voice and map view. You can clear it in your browser settings at any time.

7. Changes

Spido is in beta and this page may change. We will announce important changes on the site or by email, and the date above will change.
